Huda Tariq
My name is Huda Tariq, and I am excited to be running for the VP IT for ASoc. As someone who is extremely interested in creativity and technology, I want to bring that energy to our student community by enhancing how we connect, communicate, and showcase our work! I see this role as an opportunity fuse design and knowledge together to make ASoc's digital presence stronger and more accessible for everyone.
My skillset and experiences include graphic design, videography and photography editing, and social media management. During your undergraduate degree I served as VP Graphic Design for SAHAL (a student led club), where I designed posts and kept out Instagram profile up to date using Canva Pro. More recently, I designed infographics for Islamic Care Centers events and upcoming volunteering opportunities. Both these experiences gave me a strong understanding of how important clear communication, design and organization are when managing digital platforms. I have also developed my technical skills through personal projects. I have always had an interest in photography and videography, and I know how to use several cameras like the Canon T7i, Sony a6400 and the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. I am comfortable using several editing platforms including Da Vinci Resolve 19, Movavi editor, and Adobe Premier Pro. most of what I have learnt in this area is self-taught, driven by my curiosity and personal interest. I also have experience working on website design through my involvement with MediUnite, a non-profit organization, focused on raising awareness of health-related topics in developing countries. that project gave me firsthand experience with web layout design, accessibility, and managing updates. these experiences have helped me build a strong foundation in creative and technical aspects of IT work, and I am eager to apply them within ASoc.
As VP IT, my goal would be to continue maintaining and expanding the ASoc website and social media platforms making them more engaging and easier to navigate. I would love to collaborate with other committees and interest groups to help them design content, improve visibility, and build consistent digital branding that reflects the diversity and the creativity of our student community. I would also like to contribute to student user-testing of new technologies and work with faculty and MedTech to improve digital tools that enhance students’ experiences. Beyond that I hope to display information for students making it easier to find opportunities, stay informed, and feel connected to the community.
I believe my blend of creativity, technical skills and dedication makes me a strong candidate for this role. I’m organized collaborative and always willing to help other trouble shoot or develop their ideas. Most importantly I truly enjoy this kind of work! If elected I would be excited to bring that same enthusiasm to serve all of you as VP IT!
