Laila Alfadhli
Hi MD2029!
Congratulations to all of us on starting our first year of medical school!! What an incredible milestone!
My name is Laila Alfadhli, and I’m running to be YOUR Class President.
Advocating for and supporting my community is something I’ve been deeply committed to. During my undergrad, I led a team that successfully advocated for the provision of free emergency contraceptives for all uOttawa students. On a national level, I founded the Anti-Human Trafficking of Muslim Women Taskforce and co-developed Canada’s first culturally responsive and trauma-informed rehabilitation program for Muslim women and children survivors of human trafficking.
As class president, I want to bring that same energy and dedication to our medical school community. Here’s what I’d focus on:
Accessibility & Approachability → Whether in person, online, or through quick anonymous forms, I’ll always be available to hear your concerns and feedback.
Student Benefits → Tracking down discounts to local businesses across Ottawa — from Kanata to Orléans, Barrhaven to Gatineau — so whether you’re a commuter or live near RGN, we can all enjoy a cheaper uOttawa experience!
Student Community → Creating social activities that bring our class together beyond lectures and exams!
Student well-being → Determining academic and non-academic barriers students are facing and working with faculty to implement meaningful changes!
The heart of this campaign is simple: your needs, your voice, our community.
