VP Executive
Justine Rodriguez
I’m running for Executive VP because I would like to take on a role that serves the entire medical student body, not just my own cohort. Having held leadership roles during undergrad, I believe I know what it takes to be a good student council leader, and I know how powerful a guided community can be. As a current medical student, I feel there’s a need to create accessible student resources that help everyone navigate med school with more clarity and less stress. I’m especially passionate about transparency and feedback, as there were many times during the semester when I felt like I wanted to give my two cents but didn’t know where to share them. If elected, I would like to either create an online feedback portal or launch “Coffee and Concerns” drop-ins to hear directly from you. I would also like to establish regular public updates summarizing ASoc’s work, goals, and upcoming decisions, so that medical students, not just those on ASoc, have the opportunity to engage before things are finalized. I also want to make communication easier. I hear from many of my peers that important updates are missed simply because they’re buried in email chains or silent group chats. My goal is to utilize the ASoc Instagram to keep students informed, involved, and inspired. I want not only to support what’s already running, but to lift it up and build even further by collaborating with VP Social, VP EDI, VP Academic, VP Athletics, and others to create a more engaging, inclusive, and sustainable student life. I’m also excited to take initiative in committees that don’t currently have active council members and see how we can revitalize or reimagine them. Of course, I’ll work alongside VP Admin to maintain our records and institutional memory, ensuring smooth transitions and organized systems that benefit future councils. I also look forward to chairing the Peer Review Board—a responsibility I view as essential in ensuring fairness, professionalism, and accountability within our student body. That’s what I love about the role of Executive VP: there’s so much opportunity to put my foot in various places and support committees that need an extra hand. In summary, I know that one person holds the title of VP Exec, but no one leads alone. I’m here to serve with energy, not just to lead. I understand the importance of stepping up, whether that means representing the President in their absence or attending Faculty Council meetings to advocate for student needs at the highest level. I want you to know that you can rely on me not just to get things done, but to listen and care deeply about you, and to represent the Society with intention and clarity, wherever I’m needed. I’m excited to make the 2025–2026 school year memorable, and I hope to earn your trust and your vote.
