Hey there,

My name is Yasmin (she/her) and I am very VERY excited to be running to be your MD2029 class president! You may recognize me as the “Survivor Girl” (yes, I have seen all 50 seasons and never been camping) or as one of the two girls who sang Bad Bunny at karaoke (shout out to my Francophone counterpart, Laura). If neither ring a bell, here’s a bit more about me:

- I am from a town called Oakville a bit outside Toronto

- I love languages and know six (come ask me which ones)

- I’m obsessed with fashion and clothes (I check NYFW updates whenever I can)

- One of my most cherished belongings is my Lego Millenium Falcon

- A majority of my childhood was spent aspiring to be a news reporter (I’ll show you a video if you ask)

Now that you have a pretty good idea of who I am, let me tell you about why I want to be your class president. For a lot of my life, I’ve loved to talk about the things I care about. Whether it’s to my parents, or someone at my bus stop, I can rattle on about any aforementioned topic. The point is, when I care, I care A LOT. That’s how I feel about representing this class. We’ve all come from such different backgrounds and experiences, and my goal as president is to bring those forward to faculty, upper years, and anyone who wants to know about MD2029. Whether you have concerns about the curriculum, suggestions for social events, or ways to make the program better, I want to be able to voice those ideas to the people who need to hear them.

Here are some ideas of how I can make this happen, or just some things I’d like to work on in this amazing role:

- Distribute a form to the class before every meeting I have with faculty to gain insight on what you’d like me to bring forward to program changemakers

- A live survey to allow any student to provide feedback to me on how to improve in the role (no one ever stops growing)

- Collaborate with French class president to create more opportunities for cross-class events
