Kyran Sachdeva

Hi everyone! My name is Kyran, and I’m super excited to be running for VP Technology! My role as one of the Technology in Medicine Interest Group (TMIG) executives has made me passionate about improving the medical student experience through accessible and innovative technology.

My platform has three key goals:

1) Enhancing access to educational resources

2) Facilitating student engagement and feedback

3) Creating opportunities for career exploration

1) Enhancing Educational Accessibility I plan to update and maintain the Aesculapian Society Class Notes and Anki decks with the latest lecture content contributed by MD students across all years. Students will be given the opportunity to submit their study notes on new lectures and class content at the end of each month. In addition, I will work to create a centralized, easy-to-navigate platform on the Aesculapian Society website that includes lecture recordings and links to relevant, high-yield lectures on Osmosis and Ninja Nerd for each unit, ensuring students have the best tools at their fingertips.

2) Facilitating Student Engagement and Feedback To make sure student feedback is actively implemented, I will launch monthly feedback forms to gather input on key educational platforms like Elentra, Brightspace, and Proctorio. I’ll collaborate with faculty members and Medtech to ensure this feedback is implemented in a timely and efficient manner.

3) Expanding Opportunities for Exploration I aim to launch an ASoc Instagram page featuring short clips of Ottawa residents discussing their specialties and what motivated them to pursue a career in their fields. This initiative will help students discover and explore the many different paths within medicine.

The page will also include:

- A weekly story roundup of all interest group events, so students can easily stay informed. - Spotlights on student experiences in uOttawa Medicine.

- Updates on summer opportunities such as the SEADs and Anatomy programs, as well as MSSRP and other summer funding pathways.

- AI and technology research opportunities with residents and staff physicians at uOttawa.

Why I’m Prepared for This Role

As a TMIG executive, I’ve gained firsthand experience managing key educational technologies. I led the annual Anki talk, one of the most relied-upon study resources for medical students, and helped organize several AI-in-medicine seminars.

Beyond that, my research experience focuses on innovating medical education, including validating a new AI-driven OSCE practice platform for medical learners. I’m currently collaborating with our research team to integrate first- and second-year OSCE scenarios into the system, to bring medical students an easy-to-use tool for OSCE preparation.

Overall, I hope to leverage technology to improve medical student education and enhance learning and research opportunities.

Thank you for considering me for VP Technology!
