I truly feel lucky to be a part of this awesome group of people. It has been so nice to meet everyone over the course of the year and I really do believe we have, not only a class full of smart future doctors, but also a class full of great, personable, and fun people. It would be an incredible opportunity to represent all of you as your 2nd-Year Class President. Overall, my platform focuses on 3 pillars: 1) Clear, Consistent Communication, 2) Catering to Individual Student Needs, and 3) Strengthening our Class Community. First of all, I will ensure swift and ongoing communication from the faculty, to myself, to all of you. By providing you with organized and consistent updates with information I have received from the faculty, I hope to minimize confusion and panic - especially when we are stressed with exams and OSCEs and everyday life. For example, I’m looking to have in-person conversations with the faculty’s exam team to ensure clear weightings, breakdowns, and guidelines are provided well in advance. As well, I will voice your concerns and strive to correct aspects of our exams and OSCEs that may not have aligned with these original communications. Second of all, the best way for me to represent you is to know what you want and what you need from me, as your hopeful future Class President. If at any point you have a concern or need me to show up for you in a way that I am not currently doing, please let me know! I want to get your input regarding clarifications needed from the faculty, class merch, which day to go to MedShow, and any other fun ideas you may have for our class. Please feel free to email (or come chat) at any time, it’s super important that I know how I can best help and support your individual needs (so please tell me!). Third of all, I promise to continue fostering the non-competitive, fun-loving, social culture that we have here at uOttawa. It is important to me that we are happy and taking care of our mental health. Of course medical school is challenging and stressful, but I want to support everyone in putting themselves first, having a life outside of medicine, and feeling a strong sense of community within our class. Let's show the incoming 1st years that the uOttawa Medical School is a great school with genuine, incredible people. Above all, I am looking forward to this opportunity to give you all a more stress-free year with clear, consistent communication and, as we go into 2nd year, I hope you’ll give me the chance to positively contribute to our class community as your hopeful future Class President!
