Ishmanjeet Chahal
Hello everyone!
My name is Ishmanjeet Chahal and I hope to continue being your MD 2027 English stream class president. I have been fortunate enough to be in this position for the last 2 years, and it truly has been a blessing to get to interact with all of you and learn about everyone’s different walks of life.
For my 2025-2026 campaign I hope to build upon not only the success I've had but also try to improve on the drawbacks of my 2 years as president. In being president again, I hope to continue to maintain a few different aspects of my platform which I believe helped ease our transition into pre-clerkship. To begin, I believe having transparent communication between students and Faculty allowed our class to feel that their feedback was being heard. By gathering everyone's thoughts before meetings, synthesizing the main points, and then summarizing the Faculty's response I feel I was able to bridge both sides. For the future, I hope to continue doing this while maintaining an open mind to any improvements.
As we transition into clerkship, I hope to continue navigating the tides for our class as we enter the healthcare environment on a full-time basis. From concerns about cancelled classes we had this year, I have learned a lot in helping students express their perspective to Faculty, and I hope that in clerkship, I can be there for students once again. Whether it may be in last-minute changes in rotations, or in organizing electives as we get closer to the end of next year, I aspire to help students in any way possible.
Along with that, I hope to continue being an advocate for everyone's needs. Whether that be on an individual level, or tackling concerns regarding the whole class, I want to continue fulfilling that role. I hope to continue helping students with the resources they need for accommodations, asking clarifications for clerkship objectives, and any other inquiries students may have.
In conclusion, I am honoured to hold this position and to represent you, it has truly been a privilege. I look forward to continuing to serve the uOttawa MD2027 English stream to the best of my ability.
