Ishmanjeet Singh Chahal

Hello everyone! My name is Ishmanjeet Chahal, and I hope to continue serving as your MD2027 English Stream Class President for our final year of medical school. Over the past three years, it has truly been a privilege to represent this class. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside all of you through pre-clerkship and into clerkship, advocating for student concerns, communicating with Faculty, and helping navigate the many transitions that come with medical school. More importantly, this role has allowed me to get to know so many of you personally and create life-long friendships. As we enter fourth year, our priorities as a class are shifting. The focus now turns toward electives, CaRMS preparation, career planning, and ensuring students feel supported during one of the most important and stressful years of medical school. If re-elected, my goal is to continue being a reliable advocate and point of support during this process. One of the most important aspects of my role over the past three years has been maintaining transparent communication between students and Faculty. By gathering student feedback before meetings, synthesizing common concerns, and trying to provide clear information, I have tried to ensure our class felt heard. Moving into fourth year, I hope to continue strengthening that communication while remaining open to feedback on how I can improve further in this role. Throughout clerkship, I have also learned the importance of adaptability and advocacy. Whether it involved concerns regarding various trainings we complete, rotation logistics, or accessing resources, I have tried to help students navigate challenges as efficiently as possible. In fourth year, I hope to continue supporting students through elective coordination, residency application inquiries, interview-related concerns, and the inevitable uncertainties that come with the CaRMS process. Above all, I want to continue being there for our classmates. Whether that means helping connect students with accommodations and resources, seeking clarification on academic expectations, or simply being someone approachable when concerns arise, I hope to continue fulfilling that responsibility to the best of my ability. It has been an honour to represent the uOttawa MD2027 English Stream thus far, and I would be grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our class during this final year together. Thank you for your support!
