VP Finance Jr
Grace Henry
Hi everyone, My name is Grace, and I am excited to run for VP Finance Jr. of the Aesculapian Society. I bring proven financial leadership, strong organizational skills, and a genuine commitment to building a student experience that balances responsible budgeting with memorable events. As the current VP Finance Jr. Assistant, I have had the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the role. I have truly enjoyed being part of the finance team, gaining hands-on experience, and supporting our initiatives, and I would love the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and continue building on this momentum as VP Finance Jr. Throughout my time at Wilfrid Laurier University, I have served as VP Finance for both the MedSci Undergraduate Research Association (MURA) and the WLU Pre-Medical Society (WPMS). In these roles, I managed club budgets, allocated funding across academic and social initiatives, tracked expenditures, and ensured financial transparency. I worked closely with executive teams to forecast costs, plan sustainable events, and maintain clear records – skills that directly translate to supporting the Aesculapian Society’s goals. My approach to finance is proactive and collaborative. I believe a strong budget is not restrictive, but instead, empowering. With clear financial planning, we can fund both essential academic programming and the fun, community-building events that make medical school memorable. As VP Finance Jr., I would prioritize: • Transparent and organized budgeting processes. • Early financial planning for major events. • Thoughtful allocation of funds to balance educational initiatives and social activities. • Strong communication with the senior VP of Finance and the entire executive team. Beyond university leadership, I have spent over 12 years playing rep hockey, where I was heavily involved in fundraising and charity events to support team travel, tournaments, and community charities. These experiences taught me the importance of accountability, teamwork, and financial stewardship in group settings. Managing fundraising efforts required organization, initiative, and the ability to coordinate multiple moving parts, all of which are skills that continue to shape my leadership style. Across my leadership roles, I have developed strong attention to detail, time management, and reliability. I understand that behind every successful event is a well-planned budget. Whether it is funding academic workshops, wellness initiatives, or social gatherings, I recognize that thoughtful financial management allows us to create experiences that are both responsible and impactful for students. If elected, I will bring dedication, organization, and a collaborative mindset to the role. I am committed to supporting the Aesculapian Society and medical cohorts in delivering meaningful programming while maintaining financial integrity. Together, we can ensure our budget supports not only what is necessary but also what makes our medical school experience engaging, inclusive, fun, and memorable. Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have good taste, you’ll vote Grace ;)
